TickingI have had my mk1 1.8 sitting up for a about 3 or 4 weeks and it has developed a ticking, ive read through other thread and the answer to this always seems to be change the oil and engine flush to sort it out but can anyone tell me if this stuff (http://www.halfords.ie/webapp/wcs/store ... 12351#tab3) helps or if its worth getting. I am planning an engine flush and change any advice on brands and oil types?

Re: TickingYeah Wynns is good stuff. When you do change the oil use a light oil .5w30 I think is the one and get reasonable quality approx 35e for 5 ltr.
Re: Ticking
Yeah, i had the same problem and changed over to 5w30...problem sorted..I got a bit of a start when I saw just how light that 5w30 oil is..it nearly pours like water, John
Re: TickingYou have not been charged for this service.!!!!!
Re: TickingGoing to 5w30 could cause the slightly worn oilseals to start gushing out oil. Havent put this to the test but I was warned by my friend whos a mechanic.
I stuck with good old 10w40 GTX Magnatec.
Re: Ticking
And here we go yet again, back to the good old 'BLACK GUNK' issue stuck on faulty seals and changing to a Fully-Synth oil Yes, best keep all that 'BLACK GUNK' on your seals in your engine lads NOT
Re: Ticking
I know a few mechanics like that, nice lads. The best way forward is sideways
Re: Tickingeh , 5w 30 is the recommended oil...................
