What a weekend.................

Postby valred » Sun, 25 May 2008 5:02 +0000

Hi all,

On sat afternoon I was coming out of wexford town at the Quality Hotel roundabout when I swung in front of an english reg mx5. Smiled.
Two seconds down the road I realised why they were still smiling......I was in a convoy of english mx5's!!
My first unofficial run!
:D
They shortly afterwards pulled into a restaurant/garage and I decided to be bold and followed. They were lovely! They had just come off the boat in Rosslare and were heading for Kinsale after leaving Oxford in England. Anyway after chatting to one I found out his drivers side wing mirror had been smashed off on the boat so this is an appeal to anyone who has a Mark 1 right mirror for sale to contact me asap on 086-3844030....any colour! they are here for the week.
On sat night I had the party and woke up late this morning in a flap. Mild headache, packed my bags and raced back to Dublin. I got up around 1.45pm and decided that I wouldn't make Glenmalure so I would head for Glendalough. Bloody disaster from the minute I left Kilmacanogue! Flippin cyclists and sunday drivers!!!
It took me nearly forty minutes to get there after some selective language for some of the slowest, worst drivers in the world! Anyway, as I hadn't bloomin bothered to write down johns mobile number I started to try to remember the route so after finally getting to turn around in Glendalough (bloody tourists!!) I decided to go the Sallygap way. Oh jesus! I have never driven that way but it was brilliant AFTER I finally passed the last of those feckin cyclists and the idiots walking their cars up the hills. With the top down and the heater on I was still freezing and at 3.45 I decided to call a halt to the treasure hunt and head home. It is just five now....I am home and truly frozen! Sorry for not meeting you all. Hope you had as much fun on the REAL run!!

Val, I asume you got a phone number for these guys? Let them know of our forum/website.
Who knows, there may be a "mx5 across the water" run one day :D

Guys, these comrades need help with a mirror... anyone?

Val, we had a great day ourselves on the run.

We had our fair share of cyclists and tri-athletes on the run.. we had do divert off a closed road after Mondello.
I didn't expect the hurricane conditions though.
Scariest moment was on the downhill run into Glenmalure from Aghavannagh, blind corner...then... a bloody tree across the road

Luckily there was enough room for us to drive under it (without slowing down to a halt), I pity any other type of vehicle though that happens to come across it, Wicklow County Council no doubt have it moved by now.

Had you tried phoning me around 3 you'd have been unable to make contact... Glenmalure Lodge..Wonderful food..lovely scenery..zero signal on mobile!

Next Time then?

John

Val,

Do you have a number for them? I know Sue Duncan (still driving a yellow car?) and would like to hook up with them if they are passing Galway...

Hi john,
I reckon I was actually ahead of you if you were still in Glenmalure at 3pm!!!! Bugger and I did think I should sit tight in Glendalough for a while...........but tourists annoyed me.

Yeah uber rare that one, reckon there would be less than 20 left know.

Other rare one to look out for is the tokyo limited edition (only 800 made) dealer special in tokyo (surprisingly) only. Has a full cream interior.
I want one. Not to many in uk.
