Hi, this is my first mx5, and i love this car so far, especially when the roof is off!

Bought it 2-3 months ago but only getting to it now as it need few things to NCT...

This is what it came with:

extra lock and diff weld by Di Motorsport (Dublin)
Rota rkr 15x8 et0 wheels (looking for part worn rally tyres for front if anyone can help)
Slimline steel internal drive nuts
Garage vary plastic lip
Hardtop
Momo wheel
Mazda speed leads
K&n filter

bought it of PeterT, he is admin on driftireland.com, car has just over 100k km on the clock and is very tidy overall, little rust and quite good body work in general...

So yea... it's really bouncy due to cut springs, so i need at least some sort of budget coilovers. diff is welded and i believe i have to look for a different one to NCT... once it will be road legal i would love to refurbish the roof for the summer, please let me know what you people think, should i look for parts separate or get a donor? oh yea, new rad would be great too as current one has couple of welds in it

you can get through the nct with a welded diff, you just tell them you have a 2 way and they dont even put it on the rollers. but if your looking to replace the diff get on to robert (autocheck), id go for a 1.8 diff, the torque sensing diff is nice an agressive. as far as budget coilovers go id try mcg autostyling, they do ta technix at a good price, only thing is you will need mk2 top mounts to fit them

didn't expect such quick replies on sunday, thanks lads! i'd love to keep the diff the way it is, well at least for summer, i'm sure once i get proper suspension the ride will get better... was told to go for supersports (think thats the name) instead of tatechnixs, this information could be wrong but please let me know whats the best for that price range.

Instead of cheap/budget coil overs you could replace the standard setup with Mk 2 suspension. Gives a comfortable ride and and good handling once you have the tracking done. Much cheaper than coilovers and more reliable. Robert aka autocheck is definitely the man to see.

I agree ,coilovers are fine but ithe leave the car hard and ridgid butr I suppose it depends on what you want.I like a bit of comfort as well as sporty suspension but not too hard.....maybe I am getting old .....too much mileage on the clock.

Don't bother with any of the cheap coilovers as the're all shite, none of them have any travel at the rear which means they just sit on the bumpstops all day giving a crap ride and poor handling.
If you want to keep the car fairly low like it is in the pic's then something like the MeisterR's or HSD's will do that. They also have plenty of damping adjustment so you can have them set up as hard or soft as you want.
Sure there more expensive, but if you plan on keeping the car for any length of time there a no brainer really.

i checked prices for the suspension packages s-mac recommended and they are all great, but they will be going in if the car is still in my possession after this summer... so for now i've to stick with the budget i'm purchasing these this week, and here are the three options...
1) mk2 suspension (which is not low and i don't like unless suggestions might convince otherwise) or bilstein suspension with lowering springs that autocheck has at the min on here for sale
2) kyb adjustable shocks on eibach sport springs all in excellent condition from Merlotman
