Mx5 expert?

Postby rockdrummer4 » Thu, 11 Dec 2014 9:34 +0000

Hi,

Anybody know a good mechanic specializing in MX5's around the Dublin area? Need someone to take a look at my MK3 2007 140,000km. Have been using Mazda dealer to take a look in past but they are stumped.. the next thing they say is too strip down the engine to check the valves (which is expensive!).

My problem is:

- July misfire cylinder 3 - replaced plugs -> problem gone for about 3 months
- October misfire cylinder 3 again - swapped coil 3 and coil 1, issue followed, replaced the coil
- December misfire cylinder 3 again - is not too bad so far, happens every day or 2.
- Am using Dipetane for the last 2 days but occurred again this morning!

Any help is appreciated, Thanks C.

Did you swap the coil from 3 to another one when it reappeared? could be just another faulty coil.

Is there no errors one the ECU?

It might be bad fuel, when did you last change the fuel filter?
