Upcoming Trip to the Black Forest in Germany ,Advice !

Postby Merlot man » Wed, 27 May 2015 6:36 +0000

Hello all ,
The wife and I are planning a trip to the Black Forest area of Germany in the next two weeks or so and we are bringing the 5 ! :D
We plan to do some camping and use some hotels as well . We were thinking of going accross the North of France , into Germany , down through the forest and then back from southern Germany through the upper middle of France ,home .
We know france quite well as we driven there a far few times in the past with different cars/ vans .
What I need is advice on first driving the 5 in Europe and packing it for two weeks gear + tent etc (wife ...." where will my shoes go ?") Also when in the Black Forest what to do , where should we go , to stay, eat ,camp etc
I'm happy enough this time not to get to the 'ring ( it would be a deal breaker for the trouble and strife ) because if this goes well we can bring it in the future :P
This is dipping the toe in the water aka bringing the 5 , so it MUST go well !
Thanks in advance
Brian

Hi Brian, we met briefly down in Lisdoonvana when the NW England club were across.
I am thinking of doing something similar next year so it would be interesting to hear of your route and experiences when you get back.
I know you were looking for a boot rack, the only other thing is dump the spare wheel and take the tyre inflating thingy. And AA or ADAC cover.

Thanks for the replies
Robert for the offer but I have a boot rack and I've just got a boot bag as well so I think I'm sorted on the storage front . Brian ,call me old fashioned but I like to have a spare wheel with me , at worst I'll make the wife walk
There is no beg plan so it can't really go wrong
I've been looking at some travel forums and sites about the Black Forest , they all are saying the same thing. Nice drives great senery and beautiful little villages , the gateau is to die for as well !
If your interested Brian when I get back we will get in contact and have a chat .
Has anyone on here been to this part of Germany before and if so what are your top tips ?
Thanks again
Brian
