It's driving bloody well.

Needs new coils up front to perfect the ride. The only running issue is that once the auto choke goes off it gets a little stuttery on take off. Like a slight misfire but after that it runs sweet. It's very lively also. I'm currently just organising a list of things that need sorting. It's already dove 200 miles since I picked it up.

I'm really enjoying it . I'll make a wanted thread soon for the various bits. I have a very small budget to play with so fingers crossed I can at least make it look respectable.

Hi, I have been following your quest! Congratulations on your purchase. I bought a 5 last May and though I didn't get the weather I hoped for last Summer there was rarely a day I drove roof up. She's hibernating at the moment but will soon awaken from slumber. Some great guys and gals on here... And looking forward to a year of memorable drives in 2016!

Well wear and perhaps our worlds will cross! And good luck with the nuptials ... Lucky to have a better half that understands...

It was stolen this evening. Disaster. It was hotwired and uses for joyriding but the gardai have gotten it back and arrested 2 guys.

I don't know how much damage exactly was done apart from being hot wired.

Hello ba
I'm really sorry to hear this , let's hope that the damage is only around the ignition area and that's it's an easy repair .
It's not the right time to be saying this but you should consider a good alarm and immobiliser for the car in the near future .
Where are you based as some members might be able to help out with parts , labour, advice about local garages etc
Hope you get back on the road very soon. Keep us informed

Hey.

I'm based in Kimmage in Dublin 6w. I can't see the car for a few days so unfortunately I don't know how bad the damage is yet. The Gardaí just said it had some wires pulled out at the ignition. My other big worry is that the steering column has been damaged and the roof.

My fiance is very upset over it all as well as am I. It was the first thing for me that was making the wedding all seem real. I had it 1 week to the hour. I had arranged somebody to do a light restoration from next weekend. So if I do get it back now the budget could take such a hit that it won't be good enough for the big day

I'm in Clare so no big help to you I'm afraid .
If you need parts you should consider Robert McGuire , he is based outside swords and he breaks mx5's only , so he would have a lot of the parts you might need , he also will do any work on the car that needs doing so a one stop shop , and on top of that a gent to deal with .
He is Autocheck on here 0868226506
He might be worth a call
Best of luck with it and keep us in touch

My OH has been to view the Mazda. From what she has seen I'm thinking it isn't going to be good news.

Bearing in mind she knows very little about cars she was able to tell me that the roof has been slashed above the drivers door, some trims has been pulled off around the air vents for some reason, the drivers door window isn't visible (could just be down), ignition barrell is missing and the steering lock isn't working.

The car can't be started or driven in it's current state so we've no idea how bad things are on that front.

I'm fuming to be honest as my OH is now very upset over it all. Scumbag cúnts.

Saw this on facebook, gutted for you . What time scale have you got? Assuming all things fell into place I'd happily lend my time to assist..I'm only 30 mins away...Anyone else?? Maybe time for a good old fashioned tehc/service day.Anyone in the Dublin area ( preferrably southside) got a bit of garage space to loan for a short time?? We gotta get this sorted for this mans wedding!!!

Time is one thing that's on my side. It's not needed until July 1st. I've been talking to autocheck as well who has been very generous with his advice. I'm going to let the assessors look it over and go from there. Given the significance of the car and what it means to me my last option is to scrap it. All offers of help and assistance will be greatly recieved mind!

Good, keep us posted and we'll see if we can help. Robert will surely sort out any parts needed, the assessors may just want to write it off... Stand your ground!! (or get the missus to deal with them...works for me!! :)

 That's truly shocking to hear. Gutted for you and your OH. Unfortunately I'm down in Clare also otherwise I would try to help out. I would imagine if it's just the ignition and the roof then it should be a relatively easy fix. Just an exchange of parts. I hope you have good news from the insurance assessment and don't let those shit heads ruin any opinion you have of your car.

They won't be ruining my opinion I have of it 8)

It needs tlc now and yes none of the parts listed are a major concern but together they could be budget busting. I think the bigger issue is completing it all now within budget so the respray may have to be put on hold which may mean it looks a bit shabby on the wedding day. I'd prefer keep it and sort it now, it's like the Blues Brother movie, it's a mission from God :D My other big concern is that it is still running and driving ok. My OH said it couldn't be started earlier and I imagine Allianz will say the same.

Hopefully it'll be good news and I'll be on with a wanted list as long as my arm in the near future. :D

I've also had some lovely people contact me through my facebook alert and if any of you guys were them then thanks for the lovely messages and offers of parts and help. It's all very much appreciated.
