Bhp

Anyone know how to find out the horsepower of my mk1 1.6?
Car is a 1993 1.6 S LIMITED ( engine number B6 888551 ) 185000klm.
I believe it should have 115bhp but it doesn't feel like it so just wondering if it might have been replaced with the 90bhp one.
The white build sticker on the door jamb has faded so no information there.

115bhp it should be. Check how many slots are in the front crank pulley. 8 is 115bhp.

Ya, I set it to 14deg when I did the pulley.
I think,as you said on the temp sensor question I should leave it alone and see how it gets on , thanks

But you also have to reset the ecu to allow it to take account of the timing changes.Google it.

Did as you said and disconnected the battery, pressed brake for a while. After connecting it all back up it drove a bit better, however, I seem to have hopefully found a reason for running rich and poor power

The intake pipe is split. There was some fairly perished tape around it but i thought the tape was to secure the cold intake pipe to the cone airfilter, re taped the split and went for a spin, massive difference to power now so hopefully a replacement pipe should cure the problem

Hi Ah yes ,it cant run right with that hose sucking in air .The Air flow meter regulates the air but with that hose burst the amount of air going in is unregulated

Thanks Steve, I had the pipe off when doing the timing belt but when I put it back I secured the cold intake with a cable tie instead. Was testing the oxygen sensor and wiring last night and decided to remove the perished tape when I found the split, hopefully that's the reason for the poor mpg as well
