well when i brought the mazdarati in first from Japan, registered it feb 07 and drove it for 8-9 mths before I ever thought of NCT. Finlly i rang NCT to book it in. They said no record of it on system and to call in with VLC. I did so and asked for a test date. Lady at the desk told me 'not to bother' till march 08 as I would only get cert for less than a yr otherwise. Took her advice and ended up getting a cert for 2yrs 3mths?!

Ah well wont complain!

Imported Max (me 5) in oct 06 from uk. Registered feb 07 (saved approx. € 800.00 by waiting a few months - still a bit of Dutch blood left amongst the guinness). No nct, can't be bothered, what's the worst?!? a request to go and get it tested?
From the moment I imported it no one told me I had to get NCT, no letters nothing. Me Cloggy, me no speak english well very.

The worst is that your insurance company may refuse to pay out on a claim if it turns out that an accident occured because of a dodgy component that may have been picked up during the nct

It would have to be listed in your policy for that to happen.

If you have no NCT how to get to the NCT centre?

Anyway only 4% of road accidents happen because of
Mechanical failure.

Just because a car has an NCT does not mean it's safe.
It could have been done 2years and 3 months back wit near bald tyres.
It's a bit of a joke really.

I think they should have sorted out the roads before they brought in the NCT.
