In place of naming it crap I put stuff, but anyway, what supposedly cheap Chinese stuff have you added to your 5??? I’ve replaced the poorly fitted radio with this E168F59B-2C38-4D86-942A-E734B60F0C1F.jpeg Ya, I forgot to check the delivery charge but €40 plus delivery of €12 still isn’t bad. 971BB230-50F8-4539-9119-8904979CC584.jpeg from this .....to this 2AE29BCA-897C-46AB-92B2-F61024B72819.jpeg Angled it a bit upwards to make it easier to see 7E11069E-B4EB-4958-854F-AF6485A4DA8C.jpeg

I often find myself fighting the temptation to buy cheap chinese stuff, but as it's often so cheap I'll buy anyway. Latest purchase was not for the car, but for an older computer. I needed to access backup files on an old zip drive, spent €8 on an ide/sata converter, saved possibly €100 on data recovery costs..no brainer!!

@ Pops: That's looks quite good for €40 ! Is it DIN sized do you know ? I was looking at a Pioneer equivalent for my VW camper but it's €189 in Halfords (cheap at that) so yours seem a massive bargain !
As for Chinese stuff, not all of it is complete tat I find. I bought a Chinese smartphone (Landvo) about 2 years ago and it was awful. I bought a GoPro knock-off for the motorbike and it's been fine so far. It was very inexpensive too.

I don’t know if it’s called double din or not but it’s 7” diagonal. Touch screen,mp5,usb,tf card, reverse camera and what I really wanted,Bluetooth.Didn’t come with a fitting kit or anything 8F53FFB9-8F3A-4E30-878F-2D6F79647E70.jpeg home made brackets, you can see there’s a gap below the radio, I cut up the tray to fit in the gap Got it from Wish, about 3 weeks delivery , seems to have gone up in price by €3 http://www.wish.com/c/599547c6776ab97875b323d2

A real shame that when the original stereo was removed that it wasn’t kept with the car, msss can’t be found anywhere it seems. After all €52 for what I got isn’t bad ,even if it isn’t top class it’ll only be used occasionally as the car sounds good enough without it

True... and I'm sure that's the same in most cases - old stereo turfed out and as it's old tech is either binned or sold on. I tried to sell the removeable Clarion at one time, on Ebay, and no takers! I'm not sure where it is at the moment, but I'm sure that if I ever had the urge to return to car to as near stock as possible, it would be a nice touch.
Just about to post this, when I remembered that, at the time, it was "modern tech" cos it was coded AND removeable. This seemed a great idea - though the novelty of parking up somewhere, pulling out the stereo, putting it in the boot for safe keeping, soon wore off...... because I'd return to the car, jump in, start up and drive off then realise "NO TUNES"!

Surprisingly the unit kept its memory with the car battery removed for 24hours, I flattened the battery trying to start the car so borrowed a charger and charged it over night. When I put the battery back all the radio preset stations and Bluetooth pair were still present. Car still wouldn’t start after charging it up,would turn over no problem but wouldn’t fire no matter how much I tried,,,ya,,,, I had forgotten to switch off the security cut off, flick of the switch and bingo fired up straight away , how is it possible to forget things I fitted myself not long ago

Would you believe I forgot to fit it, I had a position for it decided on and all ,I also remembered last night that I never tightened the screws holding the brackets to the radio. It’ll have to come out again to tighten the screws so I’ll do it then

As if it were proof of quality, the Bluetooth turned out to be slow , when on a call there was a delay in it. Got on to Wish customer support who were very helpful, had to send pictures of the unit and they handled the complaint with the seller with the result being that I was given a full refund including postage and,,,,,,no need to return the radio. Needless to say,the radio is staying fitted as it’ll be rare to get or need to make calls, it streams music no problem so still happy with it

Proof indeed of some of the Chinese quality. Still, it's a good result that you got it now as a freebie ! I'm looking at a similar style unit made by Pioneer for my VW T5. It's in Halfords for €171 at the moment: http://www.halfords.ie/technology/car-audio/car-stereos/pioneer-mvh-av290bt-car-stereo

That looks good, I now remember that when I fitted mine that , the same as this one that the aerial fits in on the wrong side . My aerial lead seems to be bolted down under the carpet but halfords had an extension lead for €6. Are you near Galway by any chance ? Might have a bit of a Christmas bonus for you if you are
