2018 outings (ideas and suggestions)

Postby james » Sat, 17 Mar 2018 11:17 +0000

Does anyone have any ideas for outings this year? Post them below. Dedicated threads can be posted for finalised meets - runs - tech days

Brian (Merlot) hosted the Clare run last year which turned out to be a great hit, he is planning this year again so pop over to his thread and get involved: http://www.mx5ireland.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=8350&start=45

Would anyone fancy driving the ring of Kerry?

I think it's a three and a half hour drive.

Has anyone driven this route, I think it'd be perfect for our small open top roadsters.

Just as a matter of interest, the North West of England Mx5 club are returning to Ireland in a few weeks. They will be based at Kenmare doing the Ring of Kerry and the Dingle over 4 days from 9th April. Some 13 cars coming over plus myself. Anyone in the area see us give us a wave.

Not my party, but there a nice lot and I'm sure they wouldn't mind you joining in. Brian Merlot man met up with them in Lisdoonva a couple of years back. I haven't got the itinerary for the runs as yet. They arrive at the Kenmare bay hotel on the Monday having travelled down from Dublin. On past experience they will probably have an organised run on the Tuesday, free to do what you want on the Wednesday, organised run on the Thursday and drive back to Dublin on the Friday for Saturday ferry. Once I know the plans I'll post it.

It would be great to have some 2018 runs on the East coast for those of us based around the Dublin area e.g. a run around Wicklow and counties nearby such as Wexford and Carlow!

That's all very encouraging lads. To make things happen we need a person or two that knows the routes well. I've never guided a run before.
