Terenure 2008

Postby TOM 5252 » Sun, 06 Jul 2008 10:10 +0000

I have just been for a 300 mile run, to the Terenure Show. Turned out to be a good day out with good weather, but it was rather lonely.
There were no other cars at the Pheonix Park and there were just two other cars on the mx-5 club stand.[/img]

Hi Tom, sorry your day was a bit of a disapointment attendance wise. I personally have never been to the Terenure show, but I have heard that it can be great sport..
Although I have been in the club about 3 years now, I never had the urge to attend it because it seems to be a very formal type of event ( I am quite willing to accept that I may be wrong).
We have been having a number of meets recently where numbers have been very respectable and I think that this may be one of the reasons that there wasn't a whole lot of interest from the newer members, would I be correct in suggesting that a lot of the "longer serving " members tended to go to the Terenure show?

I also wonder if the prospect of sitting around while the heavens are opening all around you had anything to do with the low turnout, at least if it rains during a run you can keep driving :?
Granted, you say that the weather was fine, but given the way it's been lately.......

Yeah the MX5 club spot was a lonely place this year as I walked by, hopefully
maybe next year it can be organised a bit better, more notice for new members.

3 mx5s were on show and the MK2 out did the Mk1s 2-1 woooowww

The Car show is a good day out, a good laugh with normally not as formal as ya think, just gives a good oppertunity to get the car shiny and go for the spin from the Pheonix park through town to the event.

I have to say the show this year was good, but it didnt have the same buzz as having the 5 in the show.

Hopefully we can mark it down in the calender for next year and get everyone involved :o)

You're right John. I think people just weren't interested this Year.
Which is fair enough.

Maybe next Year.

I was interested - but due to work commitments etc i could'nt make it.

but, there is good interest in our club.
I'm a new guy this year..........and i like it i must say!
I've made new friends, love the cars and mine esp, found a new diversion in my life (ie. my car as a hobby) and love the meets and greets and the runs.

so, there is good interest in our club, but let me possibly explain the lack of turn out.
our cars are drivers cars.......to be driven with the top down........are they just for show?.....to me, no. - not just for show - but to be driven too.
so, maybe this expalins the popularity of the meets his year.

what do ye all think?

Hi Ya Oillie,

Yeah i can see what ya think about driving the car, and the drive does go through City Centre to the show but the show is about relaxing with
everyone in the club. Putting lots of love into your car for the day making it shine so you can enjoy it all the more!

I like the run and buzz around the car show, and shows that were MX5 enthusiasts as well as drivers :o)

Hopefully next year we can resurrect the turn out for the show.
And to add to johns message i sent one on the 27th of june.

Ill try post some photos of the day for everyone.

I didn't go this year mainly due to the fact that there has been a lot of mx5 things on recently and i needed to spend a bit of time with the gf before she forgot who i was. I went last year and have to say it was a good day out. I think that next year with some organisation then we can see a return to big numbers, It could be a great day and like tigger said sometimes its nice just to park up the cars and have a chat with members. I will personally get involved next year and try to organise it.

Something I forgot to mention in my first message.

I met Mr.Nial Walsh at the show, he said he was with Mazda Ireland and was looking to contact someone in the club about helping to arrange runs or activities.

He didn't leave contact information but I got the impression that he had been talking to some club members some time ago -- but he is now better placed to be of help.

ps I attached a photo from the show to a posting on the old mailing list

Cool! I wonder if they'll be more receptive to Eunos Roadsters this time.. ?
I believe this was the issue Mazda had in the past.
Could be good tho..
