Blowing the cobwebs off....

Postby 93 Mk1 » Sat, 09 Mar 2019 10:48 +0000

Out and about recently in the ever maturing Mk1....actually, it was its first outing since last September (except for a small test run !). The brake light came on after five minutes of driving so a quick return home to top up with brake fluid saw everything good. After around 120 mile round trip, I deemed the cobwebs officially blown off !!

Nice photo-shoot session. Ain't it nice when a quick test run suddenly becomes a 120 mile mini adventure :-)

The car needed it !! Besides, I recently fitted Rain Sports 3's to the front and I wanted to see what they were like. I guess they are scrubbed in now ! One thing that needs doing, sooner rather than later, is the laquer finish on the Nardi steering wheel - it's cracking and flaking off. It does not feel good in the hands ! Oh well, no rest for the wicked.....

You can just see some of its condition here:

Great to see it out and about, some nice roads you found.
Quick question though, have you found a reason for the brake fluid level dropping while it was off the road? You might have a minor leak somewhere as I doubt you’d have put it away last year with the light on.
Pity the way the weather has turned just as you get back on the road

Yes, I have been wondering about the low brake fluid myself. I am pretty sure I didn't have an issue prior to taking it off the road. I will need to monitor it. I'm going to put it through the NCT early this year so I'll see if that shows up anything in the meantime.

I totally agree about the weather ! It's keeping me off the motorbikes too
