Thanks Steve, a few pics. No more work on it for a while.

Muck and mould in all the gaps

Loads of paperwork including previous nct cents and all the owners manuals and even the radio code card. Unusually it’s done about 4k miles between each nct

Roof folded into the boot, still about as much room as the mx5

Not bad for a 19 year old

Even got its original first aid kit and triangle

Steve, not sure if the by pass valve should be open like this, this is its position with the ignition off

I’ve removed all the breather box now and the bypass valve for cleaning, I’ll try your reset procedure when I refit everything, I still need to get at the two jets in the intake

Yep that's it, just have to give it a gentle push off center, then do the key on/off thing

Nice to have paperwork, Pops, and some original goodies to distract you from some of those 'little' jobs that will keep you busy over the summer. As earlier, still really like the interior combo. How different is the quality of the interior (the touch test) compared to the MX5?

Touch test, it feels softer, seats seem to have more padding and a thinner leather and dash color is like a rubber coating rather than a colored plastic which is why it’s peeling in places. Never felt uncomfortable in the mx5 so I’m hoping the merc will be similar.
Found the dash paint on eBay, app €27, might give it a try later on

Steve, thanks for your tips about the breather jets, I never even knew about them, both mine were completely blocked

Forgot to take a picture of them after cleaning but it took ages to clear the jets
Lots of oil in the manifold

Luckily enough, I had some fuel pipe to replace the perished ones that just disintegrated as soon as I tried to remove them.
Too late when I finished putting everything back so will wait till tomorrow to see if it starts ok

Great stuff, did you check the valve that dangles down on two vacuum hoses underneath by any chance?

I did indeed, it was very sticky, left it soaking in diesel while I was cleaning the jets, a few squirts of throttle body cleaner and it’s free again.
Will try doing the resets tomorrow, hopefully everything is back where they were removed from

The headlight repair kit arrived yesterday and this morning the postman delivered the new headlight bulbs, so I suppose that’s the next job to get on with
Hopefully return this to it’s original condition

The other one is just as bad

Did all the resets as suggested, car started first time and now the supercharger is definitely working, car revs more smoothly as well.

Need to do a bit of a tidy up before I start on the headlights

That's how a garage workshop/bench should look.... busy!

The cleaning kit has made a good job of the lights, that's bound to make a difference.

The restoration kit was good enough....,just. The Velcro backed sandpaper discs came apart and the polish didn’t cut deep enough to get all the sanding marks, had to use compound and the dual action polisher to finish the job, results are as good as can be for lamps that were so bad
I took the pictures of a green dipetane bottle and a few fridge magnets through the inside of the lens, shows how bad they were

Spent some time trying to get my insurance sorted, autoline sent out my mx5 renewal quote but they won’t take the merc till January 2020 at the earliest so I rang lots of companies trying to get a quote for both, total waste of time, the merc wasn’t old enough for any of them and some wouldn’t take the mx5. One company (I think it was campions) wouldn’t take the merc but would take the mx5 for something like €150 but on third party only due to it being a convertible.
So renewal done now with autoline, we’ll see what happens in January, I’d hate to put so much work into it over the next six months only to be refused cover
