Wheel size calculator

Postby Pops » Mon, 10 Jun 2019 10:52 +0000

While searching the internet for bits for the slk I found this calculator, https://www.wheel-size.com/
Looks like it could come in handy for someone looking to change their wheels

Pops hows the SLK coming along?. I keep looking at a 98 in New Ross, Waterford on Done Deal and am sorely tempted just worried about rust etc. and the idea of much bigger bills etc froom a Merc as opposed to a 5. How is yours treating you?

Hi Len, Steve moved the slk to the “my other car is” section for me.
To be honest I’ve not driven it much, I think about 12 /15 miles at one time. It needed a los of general maintenance done, mostly all completed now but I’ve now started on the rust repair so still haven’t driven it enough to give a proper opinion on it.
That one that you are looking at on D/D looks nice, might mention though that mine didn’t cost even half that price but if I were to pay someone to do the work that’s needed then it would set me back something similar or slightly more as the asking price
One thing to consider, as it’s a manual gearbox, how long are your legs? Not joking or anything but I’m far from tall and I’ve got the seat back far enough that it’s a full stretch to press the accelerator to the floor and no matter how I place the backrest I feel the steering wheel is too close and mines an automatic so I don’t have to press the clutch.

Had one in work back in 2008 / 2009 that was traded in and was grand but was manual. this is the one that I was looking at

Long test but a million owners. I asume though like antything with 1K tax they re registered to mother / father / brother / sister to tax it for three months of the summer. I definitely want auto. Its a choice between an SLK which I like or a CLK 98 / 99 as well. Think the SLK would suit me fine.

Hi Len, somehow I thought it was a blue one you were interested in, the one you linked to is nice, it’s old enough for classic insurance whereas this https://www.donedeal.ie/view/21273113 isn’t until next year , I was trying to deal with him but he couldn’t/wouldn’t bring the car any nearer to me so I bought the black one. There’s a 03 in a dealer in I think Wexford that’s been for sale for yonks at a crazy price, eventually it was as low as €1250 at one stage and was marked as sold, then when the weather picked up it was back on at €2750, it was reduced again and again it’s marked as sold , I expect it’ll be back again at €2750 if this heatwave happens.
I suppose what I’m saying is that you should have a chat with the seller of the 98 then you’ll get a feel about how genuine it is , One thing that the insurance company’s don’t like is multiple owners but if you’re getting classic then it shouldn’t be a problem
