Which one

Postby Pops » Thu, 27 Jun 2019 6:15 +0000

A bit of decision time, have the mx5 taxed to end of June and declared off road after then, merc is taxed to end of July, both cars are fully insured for the next 12 months but can’t drive both at the same time.
After doing a few trips in the merc now I’m getting used to it but still think the mx5 is more involving to drive, if I’d bought a saloon instead of a second convertible then the mx5 would be the winner

Very tempting to tax the new toy for 3 months... But you know what my answer would be

Now that's a dilemma.... and such a first world problem! Obviously I'd go for the MX5, but with a new toy is be very tempted to give the 5 a rest (but only for a few months!!).

The 5 is off the road from next week, yesterday when I first started it after being left sitting in the shed for a few weeks it filled the place with smoke, never done that before , maybe it’s trying to tell me something

The way I'd look at it is that it might nice to try something different for a while. Even if it's just for comparison purposes. I'd be inclined to give the Merc a chance for a while.
Ashamedly, I don't use my MX5 as much as I used to

That’s today’s plan now, merc is now the daily driver and the mx5 is the hobby.....till I change my mind again

Pops - I would like that dilema ! They both look stunning in the pictures. The dark colours suit both so well if they are as well kept as yours.

Got out for a spin this evening, decided to trace the same spin I did around a bit of the Clare coast, mx5 is much more suited to this type of road than an automatic merc. Had fun going up corkscrew hill in the 5 whereas the merc kept putting on the traction control, nothing worse than a big orange triangle flashing at ya

Spotted a mx5 on my travels,a place called flaggy shore or something similar

You're putting us all to shame with the roof down usage ! (Well, me at least. I must re-tax mine this month).

Yep, flaggy shore is the name, we pop out on occasion to give the minions a run about.
