30th celebrations

Last car to board the 8.05 boat this morning.

Just over 8 and a half hours later Stripey settles down for the night in Solihull

And finds a tidy MK3 parked up close by.

Then on the way to dinner two showrooms, next door to each other, caught my eye. Lotto winners only for these venues!

One destination - the British Motor Museum. Heading back to Ireland tomorrow. It was a great day for the show, and I've never seen so many great looking, and so many variations, of MX5s before. Will post up some photos later.

Some pics from the Birthday bash - not as many as I had hoped as my phone ran out of charge. Walked around the grounds and saw some really lovely MX5's, of all variations. I was looking for other Irish reg plates, but found none.

It was a great show - very well organised, and a great turn out (and thankfully the weather was fantastic).

Thought this was a strange addition - I doubt it would pass the MOT/NCT..... looks like it would slice yer leg off!!! I presume its an aero thang?

And finally, Stripey at the show.....

And then stopping off back in Ireland on the return trip:

The car didn't miss a beat during the whole trip, and to my great surprise actually returned....... 44mpg (mighty close to 500km to a tank of fuel)! I've never got that mileage before - and think it was due to two things: 1. the long journey (much less starting/stopping, and more driving at a constant speed), and 2. I filled up with 98RON (which cost £1.41 a litre.... ouch!), which I felt made the car just that bit smoother and more responsive, and may have contributed to the economy?

That was an epic trip. One I would love to do. Did you get to see "Phil" Alex from Car Throttle car. Mk1 with the jag engine in it.

Yes, at Haydon, and no doubt that the weather really made the event..... had it have rained it would have been a real bummer.
