Not wishing to appear to advise you about closing the door when the horse has bolted, but if you're parking it again at the front of your house,and not using it as a daily driver, why not just remove the seats ( 4 bolts on each) and the steering wheel? That visual alone is bound to put any would-be joyrider right off. Mine is also parked up for the winter at the front of the house and that's what I did...will never know if it actually deterred any scumbag, but for the sake of a few turns of a spanner............

Hi guys.

Well the scumbags returned and tried to take my daily car another night but I scared them off. They came back Friday and ripped the roof off my shed to get my bike.

I decided in the end to sell the car to autocheck and allow it to live on with someone else. For us it just needed to much work and money put it after the damage had been done. Although there is a silver lining to all this, Mazda Ireland have stepped in and given us the press fleet mx5 for our wedding which has been greatly accepted. I'll get an MX5 again in the future but for now I'll have to remover the one I had for a whole week.

Well done to Mazda Ireland ( who ever thought I'd say something like that!), sorry that you had to part with your own car, but that probably for the best, getting married is stressful enough without that crap.... Would love to participate in an mx5 guard of honour for the wedding if all that entails could be arranged....

BUMP BUMP BUMP

So I've not logged in here in 4 years but hope you don't mind me resurrecting an old thread of mine. It can all be read in the previous 4 pages but in short I got an MX5 for my wedding to keep, scum bags robbed it and destroyed it a week later, Mazda Ireland stepped in to save the big day and we were left very happy but sad we didn't have the MX5 we wanted to keep.

Well tomorrow is our 4th wedding anniversary and I've amassed a small budget and I'm thinking of trying to fix my little but of unfinished business. I want to see if it's possible to find a nice and original MX5 to keep.

Can people give me an idea of anything that's for sale at the minute and a simple guide of what to look out for on Mk1 & 2 models up to the year 2000. Can't go any newer due to insurance.

There's a 98 on done deal, very original if the ad is genuine,(hard to think that a 98 car would still have its original tyres) there's also a rough automatic mk1 on cars ireland that needs lots of work but is priced at €1100, probably really worth less than half that

If it's the two I'm thinking of the cheap one is a bit rougher than expected and the good one is more expensive than I'd like to spend
