I'm thinking of coming up the Sat eve.

Hi, I've just been talking to Orla (front desk supervisor in this Hotel).
She informed me with all the facilities and I informed her we won't be using any of those except the residence bar. :P
The best offer for B&B is € 108 per room (she has double, twin and triplet rooms) and if we book 7 rooms she'll drop the price to € 100 per room (WOW). :?

Anyone know any decent B&B's with safe parking?

Lads,

If that the Orla "wan" that i spoke to a few months ago about a "meeting room" for a business meeting we were having - She's fcuking useless.

She said she's come back to me with pricing etc........and never did.
I used the heritage instead.

Lads.........hang fire on any bookings......i have an idea re; a B&B etc.
Rgds,

ollie.

Everyone,

I was thinking about accomadation for everyone who wants to come down the night before the midlands run so i took a spin over the road from where i live and spoke to the nice owner of the Castletown House Guesthouse.

I got the details here - Its €42 B&B for a single ensuite.
Loads of parking all of which is secure as its out in the countryside based on a farm - no hassles there.
I live just over the road, so we can meet up and head into Abbeyleix for a bite and then over to the local pub and get a taxi home for me and to the B&B for you!

Then Sunday morn, I'll meet ye over there and we'll convoy into Portlaoise - about 20 mins.

For John Cheatley and anyone coming up the limerick road - to get to this Guesthouse from Limerick side, turn right in Borris in ossary in the town before the esso, and then head for donaghmore village, and then left in the village and up that road for 2 mile and the guesthouse is on the left..............can't miss it!
Cloggy, (and anyone coming from the dublin direction) From Portlaoise, head out the cork road to Abbeyleix, and then the the bottom of abbeyleix town - turn right for Rathdowney and head for the town of rathdowney and i can meet you in the town - no hassles to take you there.

Any questions from anyone - just pm me or if you have my no, txt me.

ps......I have'nt inspected the rooms but the price is bang on and they look grand on their website.

call 0505 46415 to book and ask for Moira.

hope this help one and all...!

Ollie.

Ollie I will confirm as soon as I get my battery/alternator problem sorted. No time this week to look at it but top of the list for next week. I would more then likely head down on the Saturday and avail of the 42euro deal and skinful of pints.

Hi Bunch,

I booked that B&B yesterday and they only have 1 twin room left.
If you want I can swap my 2 singles for a twin since I'll be staying with a mate.

Hi Dave and Padraig!

Yey!

Ta for the confirmations of participation...........Looking like a good run and turn out alright.
John Leamy and i last Monday evening did a reconnaisance spin in the Slieve Blooms and loosened up some gravel in the process! :D

We made it over the blooms to Kinnity Castle and had a coffee, looked at the stuffed animals and used their facilities!

I've plotted a good run and John has given me an extra dimension to it too! The plan is meet in Portlaoise and Finish in Dromineer down by lough Derg that sunday afternoon/evening - more details to follow.

Here are some reconnaisance pics from last monday evening -

Feck, I hope i left the handbrake on in my car!
