VOTING NOW CLOSED. FRANK, OLLIE AND I GO OVER TO THE ISLE OF MAN ON 10TH OCT TO SET THE DATE.
The Isle of Man is a wonderful place of beauty and history. The island has everything from steam and electric trains to rock climbing and swimming with sharks. Every year thousands of motorcyclists flock to the Isle of Man to experience the excitement of "TT", the high speed motorcycle race on public roads. Settlements, castles, and crosses mark the Isle of Man's long history. Whatever the interest or age, there is something for everyone on the Isle of Man.

Outside the towns there are no speed limits and miles of unspoiled gorgeous scenery to satisfy anyone.
So please indicate your preference above and we'll go for the most popular.
Everyone will have to book themselves direct and mention MX5-Ireland and as the groups grows, so does the discount.
* The poll will run until 01-Oct-2008 after which a weekend will be chosen.
PS I will also be sending invites to other clubs such as NI, UK, NL, BE, etc

Yup, I was on that run too, t'was great! 250 MX5s on it!
If this goes ahead, you should try getting in contact with "Steam packet", they offered great group discounts then.

We'll be going via Dublin, but if we get a big group I'm sure The Steam Packet will work along to accomodate us.
I worked/lived in the Isle of man for 4.5 years and have loads of contacts also in the Steam Packet.
I'm confident I can get us good pricing. Was even thinking that 2 nights might not be enough. Maybe add 1 or 2 more nights as it truly is a magnificent place for a mini-break.

ok, I've been talking to the Isle of Man steampacket and Isle of Man board for tourism and so far the first easter weekend (10-12 April 2009) is a no go as most sailings will be full & most hotels will be full.
So far the best weekend (as advised by both) is any other weekend.
PS am also planning a BIG party night with Big headliners. Be prepared to be blown away...

Ok update time:
I've been planning is in full swing and I have numerous 'big boys' committing to sponsor.
I have been invited by the Department of Leiusure & Tourism to come over to the Isle of Man (all expenses paid) to discuss the details and will be bringing Ollie along.
The meeting will be with the following people.
- Richard Molloy (PR Manager Mazda) will contact all European Mazda representatives and all Mazda clubs in Europe. He informed me he will be bringing several new mazda's from the whole range over to the Isle of Man for all to look at, drive and provide feedback + will be one of the main sponsors.
- Jim McQuillan (Manager of Bagatelle and several more acts) will be providing entertainment for an evening event.
- Brian Convery (Sales Development Manager Isle of Man Steampacket) will take lead will all the bookings of boat journeys and hotel bookings (a dedicated website will be developped)
- Michael Doherty (Event Manager Isle of Man Dept of Leisdure & Tourism) is responsible for the yearly TT races and many more events on the Isle of Man and will provide a wealth of reccomendations, experience and assistance in making this a a succesful event.
It's gonna be a 'biggie'
Shortly I will launch a dedicated website for the event.
Please advice if you are interested in becoming actively involved.
