Hi guys,got pissed off with the roadster over the last few months due to ongoing crappy weather, crap ride due to Eibachs so she was left sitting in the garage for over a month until the other day.I charged up the flat Westco battery and bang she fired into life straight away,got to love Jap engines.Anyway,back to the main topic i ordered a few parts from good ol flyinmiata and was wondering how much i will be hit for from customs when they arrive?I checked on Revenue.ie but it tells you bugger all about price.

Depends on the size/weight of the box.
If customs 'see' it then.....usually they don't though if it's not that big.

did you see the programme the other night on the irish customs?
They stopped a guy and went to fine him 1,200 euro for not VRTing his car.
He said he was a poor student so they let him off with a 600euro fine,
which he pulled out of his back pocket!

anyway the point is argue your case no matter what figure they come up with.

In defence of my colleagues in Cork there was severe editing on this programme which did'nt show the interview which took place between the Customs officer and the "Customer" All is not as it appears sometimes.

In relation to Customs Duty on imports from the States - if sent by courier company they will asses the Customs Duty and VAT (paid on CIF - cost, insurance, freight value) and then charge you an administration fee for making the customs declaration. Different products attract different rates of duty.

Unfortunately i missed that Ivan.It is crazy to think that they just slap a price on the items, but from what i learned thats the procedure with them.
The box contains suspension components so its going to be big and yes heavy so,il just have to wait and see what happens.
I asked flyinmiata if they would change the invoice to show a lesser price but they declined to do so as i think its against the law in the U.S.
Hopefully i might get away with it but its looking unlikely,however il keep you all informed on my progress.

Ash i have looked at every other set up concerning a 5s suspension and i was unable to come up with a more sensible,practiable and cost effective way to improve it,so i went with their springs,sway bars.I might even go for the rear shock mounts at a later stage il see,but there seemed to be plenty of stiffness and movement in the rear of your car to keep it off the bumpstops.
Just to recap i also have AGXs and have fully rebushed the car so it should be a good sep up.
Are you using poly bumpstops or stock gear?

Back on stock bumpstops now. I had polys on when i had the eibachs and agx's however i went back when i changed shocks and springs.
They are an excellent spring imo. The ride height is spot on for irish roads and offers good control without being to stiff. Good choice.

I ordered a set of four Bilsteins from RSpeed in the states some time back. They cost about US$350. I got them shipped surface mail as it was winter and I was in no rush. Only cost about $40. They turned up about six weeks later in a big box. No duty was charged. Would be even better value now! Obviously I was lucky.
