Subtle Changes

Postby mrges » Tue, 14 Oct 2008 10:54 +0000

Here are some pics of the "facelifted" MKIII from the Paris Motor Show - all rather subtle. Apologies about the quality, all pics were taken with the camera on the phone (forgot the real thing).

It appears there are two versions of the front valance - one for the soft top and one for the hardtop.

The soft top version has a "bar" running behind the numberplate - reminded me of the current Peugeot front end:

The hard top model gets a honeycomb grill with chrome surround, and both models get new front fog light housings, as well as "blingy-er" headlamps:

Also, the rear light clusters now sit slightly proud of the body:

Other small changes include a slightly raised bit behind the badge on the nose, making it sit proud of the body work. And finally........ the cupholder cover has changed shape (and we all know how important these things are!).

Couldn't get on to the Porsche, Ferrari or Aston stands - apparantly they are all "pre-booked" through dealerships, or by invitation only. Still wouldn't put me off having one though (especially an Aston).

Another marque that really make pant-wettingly attractive motors are Alfa - although the new MITO struck me as being a bit of a fly in the ointment.

Good work. It looks similar to the changes they made between mk2 and mk2.5

John, I'm afraid to report that there was a distinct lack of "Dolly birds" at the show. Maybe the "credit crunch" is causing wide-ranging cut-backs. The Frankfurt show was worth going to for the flesh on show alone....again, the Alfa stand did itself proud and the Dolly Bird wore a dress that appeared to be fighting the laws of gravity to stay on.

Steve, well spotted - yes indeedy them there are headlight washers. All very posh for a "basic roadster"!
