New Roof?

Postby Pete JB » Thu, 16 Oct 2008 3:18 +0000

Hi All,

I have a badly leaking roof on my MK2 & just wanted to check and see if you know of anybody in Ireland that does new roofs? (Apart from Mazda of course!)

Try Art @ http://www.webcars.net/ I got one from him and it's great, he did a good job!! It cost me €670, I've a Mark 1 so not sure if the price is different for Mark 2.

Thanks Graham,

I also meant to ask another related question, I would assume that if you replace the roof it's a good idea to do the seals around the doors too. Did you do yours?

No, I was going to, but it hasnt leaked at all this summer, even with all the rain we had, my problem was the roof no longer covering the seals above the door so rain was leaking in.

You wont know till you replace the roof, but its an eay job to replace the seals, you could do it yourself.

Art does a lovely job alright at a price, I have a fitter that comes to me about once month, if you are serious I can get him to do it for you in Dublin or Meath, just need to book you in, he will be less than Webcars and I never had a problem with his work and he has done about 50 of them for me, depending on the colour of your car I have a really good used Tan Hood in stock that you would be disappointed with as an alternative to new Hood , Paul
1989 in Mariner Blue, tan hood and glass rear window all original except 15" alloys

Hi Paul,

I've looked at the second hand option before but I don't think it's worth the risk to be honest, my roof is in reasonable condition, but leaks on the pas sager side above the window.

Do you know how much your guy charges for a vinal MK2?
