Hi everyone,
Im just looking for a little advice. I dont have a mechanical background, but Ive had a 1991 Eunos vSpec for 3 years, and love it to bits. Ive hardly had any bother with it in that time. Last week, when sat at traffic lights (on a fairly cold engine..had been running 5/10min), the idle rpm shot up to 3000 / 4000 prm. It would sit there revving away to itself, then drop down to 900 again. The oil meter was also strangely enough shooting down to show no oil, and then back up to usual levels once I pulled away. It was also a bit throaty when I took off again, but once I got going, seemed to run reasonably well, maybe still stuttering a little.
I didnt have any headlights on, or the heater or any other add ons. I know Ill probably have to take it to the garage, but I wouldnt mind having a rough idea of what might be wrong before I go in. Any ideas?
Im supposed to be doing a journey this weekend in it, circa 50 miles each way. It seems to be ok once im up to speed, is there any risk of blowing anything if I drive it like this? (other than pi55ing away petrol ) She doesnt seem to be overheating even when the engines been running 10/15mins.
thanks in advance,
Mike
