gearbox trouble

gearbox trouble

i have a 1.8 mk1 with a 5 speed box. for d last few weeks its bin whining really loud on acceleration, it goes into all the gears fine tho. im thinking the bearings are gone, am i right? do i need to change the box r can i just replace the bearings?

could be just the release/spigot bearings. Any crunching going on?

Might be something to do with your avatar ;)

As Steve said the spigot bearing makes alot of noise when it dies. Anything else amiss?

I had similar trouble and turned out to be the spigot bearing. Its in the middle of the flywheel so box out job.
Its a 6202 bearing try get a good quality 1or if there is a john deere tractor dealer near ask them for the spigot bearing for a 3050

We have good used mk2 boxes which will fit and have lower mileage .

Oh i do as i work as a storeman in a john deere dealership haha
