Thanks

Mk 1 BatteryIs mx5parts the best place to get a battery? Is there anywhere in Dublin that sells suitable batteries?
Thanks graham
My local motor factors A&D had no problem i think it was round 50 euro.
The shipping on a battery would be crazy. ger
no need to go to mx5 parts for this item.
Mines a Mk1 and I just checked my car for you as the previous owner put in a new battery prior to sale- There's a Halfords Battery in it - its a HCB063. Just quote that ref no in Halfords and they'll sort you. And as Ger say - any motor factor would have a battery for you too. Just make sure it fits well and is bracked down ...hope this helps. Rgds, Ollie.
BatteryCorrect me if i'm wrong guys but the 5 is fitted with a special gel battery to avoid leaks when you throw it around corners. Normal batteries of they leak corrode the battery shelf - I think

Apparently the gel battery is also lighter and more expensive so unless you are really serious about authenticity then most motor factors would have one of the normal wet batteries to fit.

Well, ya all know i like the odd donut.......and mine has'nt leaked yet!

Which will rust the bejeasaz out of your boot. Have seen it many times. Get the gel one from MX5parts, postage isn't too bad on it AFAIR.. Steve
I got one from a Motor factors as i needed it in a hurry., Standard wet battery and to big for the std mx5 holder.
Hade to make up a custom mount for it and it seems to be giving me issues with condensation (not vented to outside??) Anyways moral of the story Unless your in a serious hurry get a proper gel type one. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3099765 "When I make a key the on position and push the button, an engine works"
Mk 1 BatteryThanks, I'll just order one from mx5parts.

WTF....two "Graham's" on the site!!
I would have to go along with Ash, the battery in my MK1 kept running flat every other day or so, and I went and got one in a hurry.....which didn't fit snuggly despite really clamping it in, and kept working itself loose (am guessing also that it wasn't "gel" as I didn't know at the time there was such an option!). Good luck getting the battery sorted out. mrges
Mk 1 BatteryI got that new battery yesterday, it only took 2 days for it to arrive, fits perfect! 10 minute job to remove the old one and replace it!
So does anyone want an old battery that occasionally needs a jump start? graham
